Blockchain Foundational Certification

Certification Requirements

The CIO Certified Blockchain Professional (CCBP) designation is issued in partnership with the CIO Association of Canada and is also recognized as a professional development program by the Institute of Management Consultants (CMC Ontario).

Certification requires the completion of all four of the following courses either through the 2-day intensive bootcamp or the weekend program, and successfully passing a 60-minutes open book exam and the capstone project:


Course 1: Introduction to Blockchain & Cryptocurrency Marketplace

Course 2: Introduction to Enterprise Blockchain Technologies

Course 3: Emerging Blockchain Business Models

Course 4: Blockchain Transformation Strategy


While the courses are offered through in-person, instructor led workshops, the exam and the capstone can be done on your own time remotely and can be submitted online.


A post-secondary education or equivalent of at least 2 years of professional work experience is required. Candidates must be 18 years or older.  

Certificates are notarized on the Ethererum Blockchain.


A CIO Certified Blockchain Professional (CCBP - Foundational) 

  • Is knowledgeable about popular Cryptocurrencies (e.g. Bitcoin, Ethereum) and the transaction process

  • Understands key Blockchain concepts and definitions

  • Can identify key consensus mechanisms and know all parts of the Blockchain ecosystem

  • Knows about the emerging trends and business models related to Blockchain

  • Understands what an ICO is and its potential

  • Is knowledgeable about the different use cases and case studies in Blockchain 

  • Can develop their own Blockchain use case and Proof of Concept

  • Successfully completed an examination and Capstone Project

Cost of Certification

There is a cost of certification to cover the online exam, review of the capstone project and notarization of certification on the Ethereum Blockchain.

Obtaining your Certificate After Certification

Three options exist to obtain your certificate:

Option 1 - To get your digital certificates and blockchain certification - no charge

  1. Click on the link here.

  2. Click on "Verify Certificate" on the top right corner.

  3. Enter the license number you would like to verify and click "Verify" and check on Blockchain.

  4. Download the digital certificate - this will have your name and Blockchain certification hash. You can always use this hash to go to any Ethereum Blockchain browser and confirm your certificate.

Option 2 - Order a gold leaf printed and framed certificate to be couriered to you - fees apply

Option 3 - Join in person to the graduation ceremony in Toronto and receive your gold leaf printed and framed certificate - fees apply

  • Time: 5:00 to 8:30 PM

  • Registration required for attendance

  1. The graduation ceremony is a semi-formal and social affair with several executives from leading organizations, board members and representatives of the CIO Association and the CMC present. It is a great opportunity to network and mingle with other graduates and executives in the industry.
